Brooloo Park: Experience the Australian Bush

Horse trails - Farm Stays - Eco Stays

p (07) 5488 6610 f (07) 5488 6630

Where:

Brooloo Park is a cattle and horse property situated on the banks of the tranquil Coonoon Gibber Creek, in the scenic Mary Valley (5 minutes east of Imbil). It is a family-run local business and is host to a range of experiences providing a taste of the Australian bush and outback, trail rides, natural horsemanship demonstrations, farm stays and eco stays.

Accommodation:

Self-contained accommodation is offered in the renovated Queensland country cottage/farmhouse, which was built nearly 100 years ago. Step back in time and relax your senses as you experience the slow pace of life in the unique Australian bush.

Guests are welcome to join in with the regular farm activities such as the daily “feed-up” and seasonal cattle work.

You may also watch a horse going through its first steps of the “join-up” process, as it is taught how to trust its new rider and companion. A complementary breakfast hamper is provided which enables guests to cook up a ‘hearty farmer’s breakfast’ at their own leisure.

For those who would like to experience the surround sounds of nature you may chose to stay at a secluded eco-site along the banks of the Coonoon Gibber Creek. This is a primitive camping site with minimal facilities on offer in order to preserve the natural beauty of the land and environment. An open fire place has been provided for a bush cook-out or as a cozy camp fire, which is a great way to spend the evening toasting marshmallows and telling tall tales of the years gone by.

You will need to bring along your own drinking water as this is a precious resource in the bush, however the creek can be enjoyed for cooling off or swimming in one of the waterholes.

The 800-metre billabong provides the opportunity for a bit of fishing or a paddle in a canoe for those who are looking for an active adventure. You may chance upon one of the local platypuses, turtles and numerous other locals that inhabit the creek surrounds.

Activities:

Brooloo Park is home to the Vinenda Equine Training Centre (www.vetcentreqld.com) which can arrange a personalised riding experience catering for beginners through to experienced riders.

Small group riding lessons are offered in a controlled and safe environment, under the guidance of experienced instructors. Or you may chose to take one of the guided trail rides that meanders throughout the 270-acre property, while taking in breathtaking views and the bush solitude.

Natural Horsemanship demonstrations are also offered for those wanting to learn more about the language of Equus and how to communicate more effectively with horses.
